Kayak Classes on Pilar Yacht Club Patio

Kelly Gossett leads one of his popular kayak classes on the Pilar Yacht Club patio.  Students enjoy ordering breakfast and coffees in the cafe and then watch demonstrations and participate in discussion of technique and theory.  Late morning, they are ready to hit the water and head down to various points on the Rio Grande to practice what they have just learned!! Classes camp in the Orilla Verde Recreation Area right in the Rio Grande gorge and enjoy spectacular sunsets along with camp fire camaradarie.  In the morning, we at Pilar Yacht Club, are happy to supply them with their morning latte and delicious breakfast burrito.  Kelly's favorite, by the way, is the Breakfast Bratwurst Burrito!

Nature Walk with Rivers and Birds

Roberta Salazar from Rivers and Birds (http://www.riversandbirds.com) was at the Pilar Yacht Club on Saturday, June 23 to lead a Nature Walk in the Orilla Verde Recreation Area.  Nature Walkers spent most of the time gleefully wading in the waters of the Rio Grande, discovering animal habitats and hangouts. Roberta's organization is also hosting summer camps and nature hikes, as well as nature discovery days for adults.  Please refer to her website for further information.
